A net pattern is depicted on a black butterfly shell using hiramakie (a technique where a pattern is drawn with lacquer, gold or silver powder is sprinkled before it dries, and after it dries, lacquer is applied to the patterned area and polished to finish). This tasteful masterpiece features a net that shines golden in the moonlight, depicted on a black butterfly shell that subtly透ける like a dark night. [What is Makie?] Makie is a traditional Japanese craft that originated in the Heian period. It involves drawing a pattern with lacquer, sprinkling gold or silver powder before it dries, and after it dries, applying lacquer to the patterned area and polishing it to finish. A surprising number of steps and a long time are required to complete a single piece of makie. Size = Width: 15 x Height: 15 x Thickness: 3 (mm) Brand = Mt.Artigiano (Urushi Art Hariya)
