【What is Makie?】
Makie is a traditional Japanese craft that originated in the Heian period. It involves drawing a design with lacquer, sprinkling gold or silver powder on it before it dries, and then applying lacquer to the design and polishing it once dry. A single piece of makie requires a surprising number of steps and a considerable amount of time to complete.
