Urushi-nuri is a manufacturing method that has been handed down in East Asia since ancient times, where layers of lacquer-based paint are applied to create a hard, lustrous coating. It has been used for high-end products.

This brooch features a flowing water pattern created with maki-e using only mother-of-pearl and gold hiramaki-e.
The golden flowing water pattern stands out beautifully against the elegant base.
The clasp is a safety pin type.
